Happy Friday, everyone! Lucky me, I’m going camping again this weekend. Summer might be ending but the camping season in southern California has just begun!
Here are five things I’m into this week:
1. This Podcast
From CBC Radio, who produce my beloved Someone Knows Something, comes this podcast about a woman in the high ranks of the cult NXIVM (pronounced Nexium) but managed to get out just before the proverbial shit hit the fan. You may have seen NXIVM in the news recently — Smallville actress Allison Mack was one of the highest ranking members, and is currently facing sex trafficking charges in relation to the group.
The host of Uncover actually knew Sarah Edmonson, the subject of the podcast, when they were both in high school, and it’s fascinating to hear her story told by her to someone she knows and trusts. Her involvement in NXIVM seemed to start in the same vein as a multilevel marketing scheme, and it’s scary how quickly things spiral out of control. This is a must listen.
2. This article from the Guardian about why the US changes so many book titles
This is a great read for anyone interested in books or marketing.
Typography + positivity + beautiful design.
4. The Good Place is coming back next week!!!!
My parents and I have recently become obsessed with this show, and I’m so excited for the third season!
So, I used an Instant Pot for the first time earlier this week and it was… not as easy or quick as it’s been advertised to be. I’m a pretty capable cook, but the Instant Pot was not happy with my methods. HOWEVER, in spite of the Instant Pot’s efforts to thwart me, the meal turned out completely delicious, and I will absolutely make it again (with some adjustments to help the IP along). Therefore, I’m sharing it with you for all of your weeknight meal needs.
Wishing you all wonderful weekends, whether they be restful or productive or a little of both. See you next week!
