Welcome to the weekend, friends! I’m taking off again for a semi-unplugged weekend in the mountains. I’m hoping to see some snow, take some photos, and get a lot of writing done. This week hasn’t been super productive unless you count making Pinterest boards for my characters productive which, you know, I’d like to, but realistically I shouldn’t. Here are five things I’m into right now!
1. Abroad in Japan on Youtube
I’m one of the few people I know that just doesn’t “get” Youtube. I don’t like watching videos that are more than a few seconds long, and I don’t follow or subscribe to any Youtube channels. Marshall, however, is a Youtube enthusiast. He turned me on to Chris Broad’s channel about living in Japan since we’re planning a trip in the (somewhat far) future, and I absolutely love it. Chris is funny, informative, and totally relateable.
2. Artist Isadora Zeferino

yay, finally the first mini series of the year starts!!! I wanted to draw something like this for the longest time! now that i'm fully committed to get back to my teenage reading habits, nothing better than drawing reading girls to influence myself into doing the same! what are you guys currently reading? I heard a lot of good stuff about "call me by your name" so that's what i'm tackling now!
All of my favorite things in one pretty package!
All her pieces are all so dainty and sweet!
A whole subreddit for photos that look like they belong in a Wes Anderson film. I find these so soothing to look at.
5. Jeff Buckley singing Tim Buckley’s “I Never Asked to be Your Mountain”
I just need to scream for a minute because I didn’t know this existed until a couple minutes ago. I think I’ve mentioned my intense love for Jeff Buckley here before, but in case not, let me state again that I love Jeff Buckley. Tim Buckley, his father, was a great singer/songwriter in his own right. His song, “I Never Asked to Be Your Mountain” is a song that I love objectively (great lyrics, beautiful tune) but also kind of hate because of the subject matter — the entire song is basically a self-pity party about how he didn’t mean to get a woman pregnant and doesn’t want anything to do with his son. Like, that’s nice dude, it must be really hard for you.
The aforementioned son in the song is Jeff Buckley. Tim died when Jeff was 8, and they never had a relationship — he wasn’t invited to his funeral. The amount of emotion that must have gone into Jeff singing this song brings it to a level that his father never could have achieved. It’s transcendent. I’m floored.
That’s all I’ve got for you this week! Everybody stay warm and safe this weekend, and I’ll see you when I get back!
