Palettes and Playlists: My Groovy Valentine

If music be the food of love, play on.

Happy Valentine’s Day! Marshall and I went on our first date nine years ago today. Nine years is a long time. A lot has happened — we’ve shared a lot, learned a lot, been through a lot. One of the things we’ve shared is music.

Marshall has always been about oldies. His favorite band is The Who, but he has introduced me to a lot of bands from the 60’s and 70’s I’d never heard of or spent time thinking about past their hit singles. As I was thinking about love songs today I kept finding myself in one decade — the sixties. We danced to The Lovin’ Spoonful’s Darling Be Home Soon at our wedding, so I started there and added nine more that make me feel kinda swoony.

My Groovy Valentine is all love songs from 1960-1969, in chronological order. Hope you like it!

I am a Ventura, California native with a compulsion to create. I'm a storyteller, through writing, photography, and occasionally music. Weekends are for camping with my husband, reading, and hunting for vintage treasures, which I sell in my Etsy shop, Peace & Goodwill. My favorite things include lavender lattes, swimming in the ocean, true crime podcasts, The X-Files, and Peaky Blinders. I hope to become a full-time writer, bestselling novelist, and a continually improving reflection of God's grace. Proverbs 16:24
