Hey there, everybody.
Just to bring you all up to speed: we’ve had a miracle! Some family friends of ours had bought a new house recently without selling their old one, and they’re allowing my family to rent it until we figure out what’s next. It’s going to be all of us — my parents, my siblings, my husband and me. It’s going to be crazy but such a blessing to be safe and together with beds to sleep on and a roof over our heads.
It seems that the Thomas Fire is finally winding down, after two deaths and 700 destroyed homes. The past few weeks have been overwhelming, to say the least, but it has truly brought out the best in our community. Seeing people rally together to support each other and all the first responders has been absolutely heartwarming.
Without further ado, here are the five things I want you to see this week.
This brave man was fighting the fire in the hills above Fillmore, where my aunt, uncle, and cousins live and where Marshall and I go to church. If you can spare anything to support his family at this time, every little bit is appreciated.
2. The Oh Hello’s Family Christmas Album
This is my favorite Christmas album right now. It’s different enough to be unique but it also doesn’t shy away from tradition and sharing the gospel. It’s beautifully done and I can’t get enough of it.

Among the other amazing ways people have come through for us in this crazy time, the sheriff’s department offered us free tickets to the Odysseo show that Cavalia is currently putting on in Camarillo. In their time here in Ventura County, Cavalia has been hugely involved in community rescue efforts by collecting food and toiletries, rescuing displaced horses, and providing this once-in-a-lifetime show for first responders, displaced families, and kids in need. In addition to all that, the show was amazing. The acrobats were unbelievable, energetic and entertaining, and the horses. The horses were beautiful. I started crying when they first came out. You could tell the relationships between the horses and their riders were finely and respectfully honed, and the end product was breathtaking. Cavalia is in town until January 21st — go see Odysseo!!!
I’m really sad I just found out about this because it would have been a really good Christmas present. To me. From me. Also, minor and inconsequential spoilers for the Peaky Blinders s4 finale ahead: Thomas Shelby is emo trash. Look at his gin label.
There has never been a man more extra. Get over yourself, honestly.
I’m really easy to please. If it has to do with watercolors and flowers, I’m sold. These designs are gorgeous, and I love how luxurious the tea towels look. A little late for Christmas, but if you know someone with a birthday coming up, this would definitely class up their kitchen!
Well, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. In spite of everything, I have a lot of hope for it, and for 2018. I can’t wait to share it with all of you. God bless each and every one of you!
