Five Things Friday (#7)

Today is the best Friday because it’s Friday the 13th and it’s MY BIRTHDAY.

I love when my birthday falls on a Friday. The fact that it’s the unluckiest number in the spookiest month is great, but it really reaches its full potential on a Friday the 13th.

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I wanted to get a license plate that said SPOOPY but they rejected me because it was “vulgar”? Meanwhile, I was behind a guy in traffic the other day whose license plate was DICK KN? Spoopy is one of the purest memes and I demand an explanation from the state of California (also Mr. DICK KN if you’re reading this it’s nothing personal).

Anyway, let’s talk about five of my favorite things!

1. The Hadestown Live Cast Recording

I know I talked about Hadestown last week, but I wrote about it before the cast recording had been released and FRIENDS it exceeded all expectations. It. Is. So. Good. I fully plan on going to New York to see it when it finally hits Broadway. Patrick Page and Audrey Grey are a m a z i n g. I have never been super into Greek and Roman mythology, but this show made me understand why people obsess over Hades and Persephone. I’ve been listening to this pretty much nonstop all week.

2. This is Kindergarten

My best friend is a kindergarten teacher, which means she has an infinite supply of hilarious kid anecdotes. After years of talking about how she should start a blog, she finally did. I don’t know about you, but I love being reminded how absolutely weird 5-year-olds can be.

3. Moonridge Coffee Company in Big Bear

The pic on the left is from their facebook page, but the one on the right is all mine. That lil’ beauty is a German chocolate cappuccino, and it was delicious. There was toasted coconut on the top and a little bit of chocolate powder mixed into the espresso. Not only was the coffee awesome, the atmosphere was cute and cozy and the baristas were friendly. Future Big Bear trips will definitely include a stop here.

4. Cillian Murphy doesn’t know what a meme is.

My friend Carla texted me this morning before 6am to say this: “Birthday gift: Interview with Cillian where he asks what a meme is.” She knows me so well. She also sent me snippets of his latest interview where he shares that his phone lock screen is a picture of his black lab and he wears a friendship bracelet that his sons made him. When will your fave ever be this wholesome?

My personal favorite is number 6.

Happy Friday the 13th, my friends!

I am a Ventura, California native with a compulsion to create. I'm a storyteller, through writing, photography, and occasionally music. Weekends are for camping with my husband, reading, and hunting for vintage treasures, which I sell in my Etsy shop, Peace & Goodwill. My favorite things include lavender lattes, swimming in the ocean, true crime podcasts, The X-Files, and Peaky Blinders. I hope to become a full-time writer, bestselling novelist, and a continually improving reflection of God's grace. Proverbs 16:24

  1. M’ Happy Bday! two: now also obsessed with all things Peaky, darn you. three: if you don’t follow “kids tell jokes” on Twitter, it’s not because I didn’t tell you. 🙂 xoxo
